The Fit Bar Summer Bag You NEED!

Summer Bag.jpg

I have to say this is one of the most non-summer summers I’ve ever experienced, between a global pandemic and 50 degree weather in July, it’s been hard to convince myself to enjoy this time of the year. I can only imagine others feel the same way which is why Fit Bar created a jam packed tote to add a little sunshine to your summer. Included in a reusable tote perfect for a trip to the beach or even the grocery store, is a drink tumbler meant to keep iced coffees, teas, or smoothies cold, an all natural and waste-free sunscreen that protects your skin from the inside and out, a refillable jar filled with vanilla collagen creamer that tastes AMAZING in any coffee drink for an extra boost of protein, and lastly a single packet of our favorite Organifi Pure that is high in electrolytes along with Lion’s Mane mushroom for a brain boost. All the love your body needs in one bag. ♡

My personal favorite products that I truly can’t live without are the face sunscreen and the drink tumbler. Finding a chemical free sunscreen that actually works is always a struggle so when I came across this brand, I knew we had to include it in the tote. Although a little sunshine is good for our souls and a nice bronzed appearance doesn’t, too much sun exposure can be damaging especially on our faces which are extremely sensitive. Adding this sunscreen into your morning skincare routine can be very beneficial. For my girls, try applying it after a moisturizer and before you apply any make-up. For the men, apply it after you wash your face or get out of the shower and you’re good to go for the day. My fav other eco friendly product, the drink tumbler, not only keeps your drinks cold for a longer period of time but they are so much better for the environment than typical plastic cups that we all use way too often. It is so easy to throw one of these in your purse or bag before you head out for the day that way you have one handy at all times. The black or white outside with a stainless steel straw is way cuter than a plastic throw away cup I might add ;)

These are just a few of my everyday essentials but if you’re looking to amp up the Fit Bar Bag even more, all of the supplements that we carry in store are available to include in the tote. Just add whichever product(s) you want while ordering online and we will have it all ready for pick-up when you get to the cafe. As always, if you’re unsure of any supplements or have any questions at all, our team is there to help you out and provide any health and wellness information you may need!

Immunity Boosting Food!

Orange+Healthy+Food+Organic+Blog+Banner.jpg

Thanks to immune compromising viruses flooding our daily lives, now more than ever individuals are searching for an understanding of the importance of incorporating vitamin C into our diets!

According to Web MD, “the benefits of vitamin C may include protection against immune system deficiencies, cardiovascular disease, prenatal health problems, eye disease, and even skin wrinkling.” Vitamin C helps to increase antibody action to keep your immunity strong and to help speed up the healing process.

If you start to feel a little scratch at the back of your throat or begin to sniffle, chugging a glass of orange juice will help speed up the healing process by giving you extra electrolytes and vitamin c, however a medium-size orange only has 69.7 mg of vitamin C, which is actually less than that of many other common fruits and veggies.

Before you hit the supplements, consider various foods that have just as much if not more vitamin c than an orange that can be easily incorporated into your diets!

Whether they are in your smoothie, on your acai bowl, or covered in chocolate (no judgement here), strawberries are full of vitamin C and folate which aids in heart health!

Pineapples are far more than just a home for sea sponges! They are not only rich in Vitamin C but they aid in digestion and are anti-inflammatory which makes for a great post workout snack!

Thinking of what you eat as medicine can evolve your outlook and appreciation of what we consume. Packing in your Vitamin C is as easy as adding a little flavor to your meal!

Vitamins are the Vaccine

Now more than ever is the time to start incorporating all those nutrient dense foods and supplements into your diet to boost your immune system! Illnesses and diseases CAN be prevented by more than just traditional medicine, it can be prevented by the foods we eat and the things we put in our bodies. There is not one food that is going to cure all illnesses just like there is not one medication that can cure all diseases but nourishing your body with whole foods that are naturally packed with vitamins puts you on the path to prevention and healing.

Bell+Pepper.jpg

Vitamin C is the first thought that comes to mind when I think of an immune boost and can be found in so many different fruits and vegetables, the most common being citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit, lemon, etc. but did you know that 100 grams of a red bell pepper has almost TRIPLE the amount of vitamin C than that of 100 grams of a navel orange!? I know I sure didn’t, so I was shocked to say the least and after that discovery I was motivated to dive deeper into other nutritious veggies to see which ones pack the most vitamin punch. 100 grams of broccoli has 89mg of vitamin C, kale with 120mg, and when you compare those numbers to 53mg in an orange, you can see which ones are the winners. This goes to show that vitamins are high in foods that we aren’t aware of and to always have a variety of different fruits and veggies to meet all of your body's needs. The more colorful your plate is, the better!

Keeping your diet high in whole foods that are dense and beneficial to your health can be an easy way to keep your immune system strong and prepared for any unwelcome issues, especially during this time where those who are immune compromised are at a higher risk. Smoothies can be an amazing way to get in a plethora of vitamins and nutrients and easy to sneak in vegetables that you may not like on their own. My favorite way to ensure my diet is on point is to add frozen vegetables into my smoothie which hides the flavor and adds to that thick consistency that we all love and strive for. Make sure to blanch your veggies before freezing them to help aid the digestion process and to prevent the loss of vitamins. I recommend trying this with cauliflower, butternut squash, spinach (mainly if your fresh spinach tends to wilt fast), and even broccoli.
